EGEOLAND is a geoarchaeological research project, funded by the Hellenic Foundation For Research and Innovation.
The Project is carried out by a research team from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
EGEOLAND Project focuses on the Aegean Island of Lemnos and specifically on the archaeological site of Ouriakos and its surrounding area.
The hunting and foraging campsite of Ouriakos dates to the Final Palaeolithic (10.500 BC). The site was the focus of systematic archaeological investigations over the past decade by a research team from the Department of Archaeology, University of Thessaloniki and colleagues from the University of Venice.
Τhe main interest of the EGEOLAND Project is to conduct a systematic geoarchaeological and environmental study, aiming at understanding early habitation choices and patterns in the island of Lemnos during prehistory.
